2014 WA International Tertiary Student of the Year

Shufaa Athman moved to Perth from Kenya in 2010 to study a Bachelor of Laws at Edith Cowan University. She has given significantly to the international student community through volunteering her time and expertise in promoting a positive international student experience. Shufaa was a recipient for 2013 ECU Vice-Chancellor Student Award for Contribution to University Life, received a special commendation for the 2013 ECU Vice-Chancellor Student Award for Engagement with External Communities and was the award winner of the ISANA Bursary as the WA delegate for the 2012 ISANA Conference in New Zealand.

Shufaa has volunteered for several organisations since moving to Perth, including Teach Learn Grow (TLG), AIME, Smith Family, the Council of International Students Australia (CISA), Kenyan Community in WA and the ECU student guild.
